Thierry Henry Replacement

Thierry Henry Gone – Replacement Named

CF Montréal (AKA Montreal Impact) has named Wilfried Nancy as their new head coach, replacing Thierry Henry. Montreal had hired the former Arsenal and France striker as their manager in 2019. Henry had led the Impact to the MLS playoffs last year, and big things were expected this year.

Henry resigned from his position in February, citing “family reasons”. He had not been able to see his wife or children due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“Unfortunately due to the ongoing restrictions and the fact that we will have to relocate to the US again for several months will be no different. The separation is too much of a strain for me and my kids. Therefore, it is with much sadness that I must take the decision to return to London and leave CF Montreal,” said Henry.

Henry had previously been an assistant manager of the Belgian national team from 2016-2018. He also managed Ligue 1 team Monaco in France in the 2018-19 season.

Nancy has been a part of the Montreal team’s organization since its inception in 2011. He has served as the manager of the U16, U19, and U21 teams.

Henry has also been linked to a managerial position at Championship side Bournemouth. Eddie Howe stepped down as manager when they were relegated from the Premier League in 2020.
